The Villages are a large, 55+ community that straddles the north end of Florida’s Turnpike. Its nearly 80,000 residents live in a variety of smaller communities of varying sizes and types.
The Villages are also home to several clubs and organizations created by the residents themselves. Among this is a 200-person dive club. Club members, many of whom are in their 70s and 80s, can take classes and go on organized dives.
Last week, photographer Nick Conzone alerted us that the club’s recent visit to Blue Grotto, along with Nick’s photography, was featured in the June issue of The Villages’ monthly magazine and on the front page of its daily newspaper.
We’ve provided links to both articles below. The articles underscore the fact age is no barrier to diving.
