Since we last updated the Blue Grotto orientation video, several things have changed. Among them:
- We have a new dock and a new ramp leading to it.
- We’ve added changing mats to all the pavilions.
- There are new recommendations for giant stride entries.
Among our projects for the coming year is a complete makeover of the orientation video. This will take a few months so, until it happens, we’ve produced a three-minute addendum to our existing video. Here it is:
Among the things we are emphasizing now is that, just because any certified diver may enter the cavern, it doesn’t necessarily mean they should. Divers who explore the cavern should:
- Be able to maintain neutral buoyancy and horizontal time.
- Keep one of the guidelines in sight at all times.
- Stay well above the guidelines to avoid getting too close to the bottom.
- Not enter the cavern if visibility is less than 40 feet.
If it has been a while since you last viewed our orientation video, now would be a good time to do so. You can see it, along with the footage we just added, by clicking the button below.
